Privacy for invoice recipients
Who this is for: anyone who has been sent an invoice by a business that uses MetroPay to do its billing.
You have received an invoice from a business that uses MetroPay
You did not sign up for anything, and you probably arrived here from a link at the bottom of an invoice page. This explains who we are and what we do with your details.
MetroPay is invoicing software made by Studio Metrodesk, Haque Chamber, 89/2 West Panthapath, Tejgaon, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka 1215, Bangladesh. Businesses use it to send invoices and collect payments. We are not the business that invoiced you, and we are not a party to whatever you agreed with them.
Who is responsible for your information
The business that sent you the invoice decides what to collect about you and how long to keep it. We hold that information on their behalf and act on their instructions. In data protection law they are the controller and we are their processor.
That is why requests to see, correct or delete your details go to them first. We cannot change a customer record on our own — it is theirs, not ours.
What we hold about you
| What | Why it exists |
|---|---|
| What is on the invoice: your name, email, billing and shipping address, and what you were billed for | The business entered it so it could invoice you |
| Whether and when you opened the invoice page | So the business knows the invoice arrived — the page tells you this too |
| Any payment you reported: the amount, the reference, and any receipt file you uploaded | You chose to tell the business you had paid |
| Whether you unsubscribed from that business's reminders | So we stop sending them |
We do not build a profile of you, we do not track you across other websites, and we never sell any of it. We run no advertising trackers on the invoice page.
About the read receipt
Opening the invoice page records that it was viewed, and the page says so where you can see it. That exists so a business can tell a delivered invoice from a lost one, which is usually in your interest too — it is the difference between a polite reminder and an accusation.
It records that the page was opened and when. It does not record where you were or what device you used.
Paying online
Card and mobile payments are handled by Stripe or SSLCommerz, depending on which the business uses. Your card number goes straight to them and never passes through MetroPay. Their own privacy notices cover what they do with it.
If instead you paid by bank transfer, deposit or cheque and reported it from the invoice page, what you typed and any receipt you attached go to that business to check. They confirm or reject it; we only carry the message.
Where your details are held
MetroPay runs on servers in Bangalore, India. Invoice emails are delivered by a provider in the United States, and taka payments are handled in Bangladesh. The full list is on the sub-processors page.
How long we keep it
For as long as the business keeps the invoice. If they delete the invoice or close their MetroPay account, your details go with it.
Unsubscribes are the one exception: we keep those indefinitely, because forgetting an unsubscribe would mean emailing you again after you asked us not to.
What you can ask for
You can ask to see the details held about you, to have them corrected, or to have them deleted.
Ask the business that invoiced you first. They decide, and they can act immediately. Their contact details are on the invoice.
If you cannot reach them, or they do not respond, write to [email protected]. We will pass your request on, and where the law requires us to act ourselves, we will.
Stopping reminder emails
Every invoice and reminder we send carries an unsubscribe link. Using it stops that business's reminders reaching you. It does not cancel the invoice or settle the debt — that is between you and them.
